In this video I explain how to turn a cheap notebook mouse into three button USB mouse for programming on the go. It's hard these days to find a three button mouse without a scroll wheel, harder still to find one with a USB connector. These features just don't appeal to most users. However, those of us who do programming, and need to rapidly reuse text, find it convenient to be able to highlight and paste text with mouse button two. However, with the scroll wheel bound to button two, this can cause misplaced text within your program, which while easily noticed and fixed, can be bothersome. But by mechanically disabling your scroll wheel, you can completely eliminate this problem. Note, this has only been tested on a GFM mouse from a super market, a Logitech optical was also taken apart and was found to use an optical gate to measure movement. A Razer BoomSlang was also taken apart, well tried at least, however the rubberized case proved quite resilient.
